Online Worship for Ascension Day

For the Feast of the Ascension, the Rt Rev Dr John Armes, Bishop of Edinburgh, celebrates the Eucharist from his home in Edinburgh.

Bishop John will be joined virtually by the members of the Diocese of Edinburgh.

The service will begin at 11am on Thursday May 21.  Links to the service will be available on the SEC website later today (20 May).

There will also be a Service of the Word at 6.30pm, led by Matthew Wylie, a worship leader from St Oswald’s, Maybole, in the Diocese of Glasgow & Galloway.

The broadcasts will be available for all to access on YouTube and Facebook. Subtitles are available on both platforms, if selected by the user. Look for the CC icon at the bottom of the display screen on YouTube; on facebook, go to Settings, then Video, then select Always Show Captions.

The Scottish Episcopal Church website will also contain downloadable video and audio formats of the services, when these are ready.

We encourage people to distribute the video/audio recordings and the Liturgy widely within their own personal networks. In households with no internet or playback capacity at all, if people are simply given the opportunity to read the words of the Liturgy to themselves close to the appointed time, they will be praising God along with others in the Church.
