Provincial Environment Group seeks new members

Bishop Ian Paton, Convenor of the Provincial Environment Group (PEG), invites expressions of interest for the appointment of two new members of the PEG. The PEG is an advisory group to the Provincial Standing Committee and was appointed following a decision of the General Synod.

The Scottish Episcopal Church is committed to addressing the interconnected global crises of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Grounded in the principles of discipleship, justice, and hope, the PEG leads the Church’s response by pioneering innovative approaches to climate justice and care for God’s creation. As the SEC continues its journey towards decarbonisation, the PEG fosters collaboration across the Province, Dioceses, and charges, guiding mission-driven action for a just and sustainable future.

We are looking for people to join the group who are enthusiastic about protecting the environment and can network and share resources with others who share similar priorities – both on local and national levels. The PEG has the power to co-opt people with relevant experience as it carries out its work, so detailed expertise on climate issues is not necessarily a requirement as long as you have appropriate transferable skills.

Desirable qualities for membership include being:

  • Good communicators, both written and verbal
  • Collaborative team players
  • Ambassadors for the Church
  • Connected (tuned in) to the work of other bodies

If invited to interview, you will be required to provide examples of these core skills.

If you are interested in membership of the Provincial Environment Group, please send a brief CV outlining your skills, relevant experience and church affiliation to Fiona Campbell, Governance and Compliance Officer, at fionac@scotland.anglican.org by 5pm on Thursday 15 January 2026.

Interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place during the week beginning Monday 19 January 2026.
